traveller, web-developer, business professional
Hi, I'm Priyank. A mid-21st guy living in Surat, India.
I'm very interested in trying new things and my interests are diverse. Food, people, places, technologies - I like them all. My life philosophy is guided by the thrill of learning and exploration, and planned attempts to land in unplanned circumstances, something that I think is essential to keep life exciting and encouraging. Whatever I do, I approach life with optimism and strive to make each day happy and fruitful.
I take pride in trying out and doing absolutely random things. Because, why not?
I try to take about 8-weeks of vacation time every year to travel to places all over the planet. More recently, I went to the Silk Route in Central Asia, and it was one of my most memorable trips.
I enjoy classical music, jazz, soft rock, and any music that moves me. I also play Indian Classical music on Sitar.
I enjoy taking pictures and being creative with my camera. I'm currently using an Canon DSLR. Before that, I had a Nikon DSLR. Celphone cameras keep improving; everyone can take good pictures.
From time to time I update my knowledge of the interwebs and design websites for people, simply as an outlet for creativity and learning something new.
I'm an IT at heart, and that comes across in my heavily analytical, fact-based, and curiousity-driven investigative methods. I find immense thrill at discovering the systemic problems that lie under the things you see on the surface.
In my professional career, this eclectic mix of IT, business, music, travel, etc. allows me to apply inter-disciplinary techniques, and think and execute differently. I also find immensely excited by unpredictability, chaos, and bringing order and structure to things.
Learning languages is my hobby! I grew up speaking Gujarati, added English and Hindi to it in school, then was Sanskrit. It is very difficult to remember the words if you don't use them regularly, but give me some time and I'll have a decent conversation with you in any of those languages!
Years ago, I got certified as an Ashtanga Yoga student. I volunteered study Yoga for a while, but now it has become a personal practice.
Travelling is the best way to spend your money, isn’t it? I backpack on a shoe-string budget; couchsurfing and hitchhiking allow me to connect with real people all over the world, experience hospitality and generosity, and return with memorable stories.
Over the last few years, I have travelled to numerous places, taking pictures of the beautiful sights and experiences each place has. There’s so much beauty in the world, and it’s not always possible to photograph the perfect moment in the perfect light at a perfect angle.
But we can try!
Contributing more bytes to the interwebs since 2015, in all the time my blog has existed, it has served no useful purpose to the world, other than to entertain myself. It's also not updated since 2018.
